Anthony Rue II, better known in the dance world as AntBoogie, is the founder and leader of one of the most commercially successful dance groups, The Amount Boyz. Anthony was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Transcending the boundaries of the inner city and its woes, Anthony began his dance training at 10 years old with the National Dance Institute. He later attended New York City’s acclaimed “Fame” school Fiorello La Guardia High School of the Performing Arts. While training in classical dance, Anthony was inspired by his exposure to funk & soul classics by his mother and the rise of hip hop music. The movement that followed the sound had a profound influence on him and was ultimately where his passion for the art form lay. After founding the Amount Boyz with best friend Adrian Wiltshire and a group of close friends, it was not long before he was combining the technique and precision he had gained in his years of classical study with the emerging street style of hip hop taking hold of the inner city youth. AntBoogie and the Amount Boyz quickly gained recognition from the dance world and commercial industry from the hybrid of classical dance and street dance. This led to Anthony's work with recording artists on tours, music videos, appearances in feature films, and his work as assistant choreographer to Tanisha Scott on the NOTORIOUS film, The Alicia Key’s World Tour and Madonna's Sticky & Sweet Tour. Now at the pinnacle of his career AntBoogie is creating new opportunities for dancers by acknowledging them as ATHLETES with his organization, Urban Dance League.
