Jeté Dance Center strives to be a positive, fun, and safe environment for young people to creatively explore dance and fitness with industry professionals. Ms. Tamia has a passion for excellence and strive to build a bridge between the educational classroom and the professional stage. We focus on technique, self discipline, confidence, and individual artistry! Our program is designed for dancers who are seeking placement in a performing arts high school, college, conservatory, or for dancers wishing to work as industry professionals. With our focus on competitive and professional placement, we welcome all students with a desire to dance to come and leap into their greatness!
Tamia B. Santana is the Executive Director Brooklyn Dance Festival and Jeté Dance Center, in Brooklyn, NY. She was born, raised and is currently raising her family in Brooklyn and an advocate for the arts. She is on the Board of Directors for "One Brooklyn" through Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, the co-founder of "ONE LOVE NY" Organization, bringing arts and resources to children in NYC Juvenile Halls, and “Raise the Age”, a reform to help NYC try all children under 18 as youth, not adults. She is also a proud member of the Bessie’s Steering Committee. As a young girl, Tamia trained at her local dance studio before going on to dance as a principal soloist with Jacques D'Amboise' National Dance Institute. Tamia went on to study dance throughout high school and college. She has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden, Lincoln Center, Brooklyn Academy of Music and in Europe.
Brooklyn native Olivia is a graduate of Frank Sinatra Performing Arts High School with a major in Ballet. She is a previous Jete Dance Center student and recently selected out of 300 dancers to become the newest Brooklyn Nets Team Dancer. She has performed on world renown stages, such as Lincoln Center, Metropolitan Opera House, Jacobs Pillow, as well as on tv and film. Currently majoring in business at St. Francis University, she is excited to be working with Jete's young tap and hip hop dancers.
Mr. Kid has appeared on Nickelodeon, MTV, VH1, BET, Metro Channel, Good Day New York and Good Morning America. Recently he was Master Teacher at NYC Summer Stage http://www.cityparksfoundation.org/event/summerstage-brooklyn-dance-fest/
He’s even done photo shoots Vogue, Trace, Breaking Grounds and The New York Post. As well as having a gift for dance, his talent extends to the stage. Mr. Kid had a role in the Lincoln Center play "The Gift Unleashing the Mystery," as an actor and head choreographer. Some of his previous accomplishments include dancing at the 2008 Disco Ball, alongside Bonnie Pointer and The Sugar Hill Gang and hosting The Pro Dance Tour Dance Competition. He is currently the director of Innovations In Dance Development workshop and master class, a company bringing in high caliber choreographers to work with young dancers..
Dolores, known to Jete students as " Ms. Lola," made her way to NYC to train as a professional tap dancer under the mentorship of Derick K. Grant, Lynn Schwab, and Ayodele Casel. She has performed as a member of TAHDAH, under the direction of Jared Grimes. Dolores has performed in venues such as New York's prestigious City Center, The Public, The Duke, Lambs Theater, Symphony Space and Thalia Lincoln Center. She has been part of the Adjunct Faculty At Pace University For The Commercial Arts Dance Program She Is A Current Member Of Chloe Arnold's Company, Apt. 33. She has performed at the Harlem Stages, Thalia Theater, Symphony Space, The Producers Club, Playhouse Square, Bitter End, and for Queretaro, Mexico's Cultural Exchange Program.
Born and trained in Sydney Australia, Ellie has appeared in film, television, print work and concert dance. With a BA in honors for Musical Theater, she has taught ballet, tap, jazz and contemporary in New York and Singapore. She has been teaching for Jete Dance Center in our various locations.
Whitney Brown, signed to Bloc agency joins us as our rehearsal director and a technique specialist. She has appeared as a featured dancer the movies,"Step Up 3", " Footloose", " Hairspray," as T.V appearances for major stars like Oprah, music videos and print. She trained at prestigious schools such as the Alvin Ailey School and SUNY Purchase Conservatory.
